Something New
A wedding dress is such an important part of the day and sometime the most expensive, so why should it be put away once the day is done?
My collection gives the garments purpose. Each item is separate creating longevity and practicality so you are able to wear it in everyday life, whilst still having this emotion bond. Adding a touch of colour to the collection creates a modern feel, while using fabrics such as lace, taffeta and silk, gesture to the traditions behind bridal wear. This links in with the name of my collection - Something New. It comes from an age old saying, Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed and Something Blue, which is carried out by most brides and because of this I found it very fitting for my collection.

The Harmony Dress
With this dress, I took traditional inspiration with the use of a corset and skirt. When you look for a traditional wedding dress you often find they come with a ballgown skirt or fishtail and I and both of these to be outdated. I wanted to keep in touch with this element but to modernise it, so with the use of ruffles and tulle I was able to create this soft, feminine bridal look. Along with the green corset it has both a traditional and delicate appearance. Adding the puff sleeve creates volume when it is needed - to make a grand entrance, but once removed creates a more romantic affair.

The Flower Suit
‘Something New, Something Old, Something Borrowed, Something Blue’ is an old-age wedding tradition, and it only made sense for me to incorporate this element of blue into my collection. Blue is often associated with relaxation, peace, spiritual realisation, along with stability and wisdom. I hope by using blue, it will allow the bride to feel all of this on her wedding day.

For the Love of Pink
I added a pop of pink to this outfit to venture away from generic wedding outfits. The pink square-neck top and trousers portray a modern wedding outlook, while the skirt hints at traditional wedding outfits. It comes with a satin ivory bow, to create a sense of volume, to be less restrictive and to allow the bride to change up her wedding style. In keeping with the traditions I worked with ivory satin and taffeta, both very popular in bridal wear and this acts as my acknowledgement to not wanting to lose what a wedding dress should be.
