‘With 3.7 million tonnes of the 4.9 million tonnes of plastic being produced in the UK becoming waste’, this conceptual project aims to create a sustainable solution to current classroom seating. Working with Hille for material information and concept feedback, the Series Eco is a modular, all plastic school chair designed around the narrative to get schools more actively engaging with recycling their discarded furniture. Requiring no adhesive to assemble and with a method of assembly to discourage pupils taking it apart, this concept provides for aesthetically pleasing seating with a greater emphasis on sustainable design practise.
