Peculiar Plant Stories
Like the name suggests my final project was focused on strange plant stories throughout history. Humans have interacted with plants throughout history in both positive and negative ways and I wished to highlight both examples in scarf designs.

Fern Frenzy
In Victorian era England pteridomania took over the nation. Pteridomania the Latin name for Fern craze describes the obsession plant collectors had over ferns to place in their wardian cases which are primitive terrariums to keep tropical plants in cold climates.

2000 years late
This design depicts the Judean date palm. An extinct date palm from 2000 years ago which has been resurrected from a seed cache found in the ancient ruins of the fort of masada. The very first Judean date palm to be germinated has been named Methuselah.

Potatoes with a side of Leprosy
Little known fact is that potato were briefly made illegal in France due to the misguided idea that they caused Leprosy. This scarf depicts the beautiful potato blossom and tomato like fruit which French pharmacist Antoine Auguste Parmentier would present to French aristocrats to de-stigmatise potato.
