'Inside Out'- Tailoring The New Man
This project explores how Interior Design can challenge traditional masculinity and instead embrace new/soft masculinity. Research shows that men can often feel that brands haven’t challenged stereotypes, which is dangerous for society. By changing the narrative and going against the norm it will allow men to have a healthier and happier lifestyle.
'Inside Out' Storytelling
The interior aims to take men on a journey of discovery, with the space being tailored to them and metaphorically designed to be a suit being flipped 'inside out' to reveal the more colourful and expressive lining.
'Inside Out' Plans and Technical Section/Detailing
The interior gradually becomes more bright and colourful when going up the building, representing the suit of man being flipped.
'Inside Out' Visuals
The visuals give an insight into some of the key spaces within the interior, with the hub for men hosting a range of brands redefining masculinity. The multifunctional ‘ribbon’ acts as a space to sit, hang and display and is a timber structure with a skin of aqua-jet cut, sustainable Marmoleum. It has been designed to represent traditional suit patterns, such as pinstripe and houndstooth, with The Book of Man logo subtly integrated to create a branded experience. The space also includes structural pins, suit pattern merchandise tables, lapel stairs, suit piece voids, an organisational tartan grid, and much more! All elements have been considered to enhance the tailoring language of the interior.
