eigengrau
Eigengrau is the colour you see when you close your eyes, so you can certainly guess what “the eigengrau theatre” will invite you to do -
by emphasising the use of space, focusing on sound and other sensory input beyond sight, the performances in pitch darkness allow you to immerse in a unique experience and “look” at the world from a different perspective.

eigengrau: Tickets
The performances would range from comedies, tragedies and other well-known plays transformed into new works of art, to more ethereal experiences and playing with the audience’s autonomous sensory meridian responses (ASMR). The ticket, brochure and poster designs celebrate the two writing systems - Latin and Braille - and show how beautifully these two can fuse together and compliment each other.

eigengrau: Posters
The tactile patterns bring out the character and diversity of the theatre and its people. It is a contemporary way of conveying the abundance of personalities, emotions and stories this theatre will hold, and the diverse audience it will welcome.

eigengrau: Inclusive Design
As designers, we have this incredible power to push everyone towards a more inclusive and comprehensive world (sometimes without the majority of users even noticing the design changes or additional details), but inclusive design does not make the product accessible exclusively for people with different impairments - it predicts and reduces inconveniences that might occur to anyone.
This website proposal offers an easy tool for enlarging the text size, customising the colours and contrasts to please the eye, it includes alternative image texts, a euphonious screen reader and other elements supporting a larger and more diverse user community - even little adaptions like these can make an immense difference for all people on the other side of the screen.

The Christmas Storybook of "Vārpas"
"Vārpu Ziemassvētku Stāsts" is a long Christmas poem about a loud, peculiar but unconditionally loving family from Latvia.

The Christmas Storybook of "Vārpas"
The poem is brought to life by my own handwriting, illustrations and carefully chosen photographs from the endless depths of our digital Christmas photo and video archives.

The video materials were brought into the project with the help of augmented reality. Though some people from the family might not have the abilities or technology to experience this extra layer of visual interaction, it would be a real shame to miss out on the opportunity to have my own moving-image-photo-album like the one from Harry Potter.

The Christmas Storybook of "Vārpas"
This project combined my love for writing, photography, illustration and drawing, my family and some of our wonderfully strange traditions. This little project turned out to be one of my favourite projects I've ever crafted.
Paldies manai ģimenei, ka vienmēr ir man līdzās - arī tad, kad pati nezinu, kur dodos, vai kad attopos tūkstošiem kilometru tālumā.
