Takao Yamaguchi

I am a cinematographer working in Japan. Producing an artwork that broadens my perspective for cinematic expression further is the primal aim of the final project. To actualize the transmigratory character the word cinematic expression entails, I try to transform the relationship between audience, filmmaker and performer; and also between filming location and living area. Therefore, I choose to cast someone who is always a movie audience, employ the same roll of film used for modern commercial films, and display them as people watch cinema. The audience becomes one of the performers and also engages in a part of the director’s role. Each unique cinematic world consists of the vast universe of the whole concept of what cinematic is. What I was most surprised by is the project I aimed to pursue cinematic expression turned to deeply expose participants’ own life while I am unaware.
