On the Sustainable Product Design course, I’ve investigated many project directions but all of which are products designed to benefit society. For example, I have explored products that reduce packaging waste or products that are more inclusive, such as for people who have arthritis.
In this project I looked at salt we use for food and explored the potential to reduce packaging and rethink how we normally use it as a product. This started by creating solid salt blocks that have different packaging requirements with increased product volume. The blocks also lasts much longer which means less packaging needed yet more salt supplied. This redesign allowed me to rethink the experience of using salt. Although it’s a simple day-to-day food product, it has been a memorable and fun project for me to explore.
