This is one of the smaller drawings as a part of my Land Score series. Made in our family kitchen one morning, it records the sounds of breakfast being made through calligraphic mark-making.
Visualising the sounds of birds dancing around our garden last summer, this drawing was made using a brush dipped in ink.
Soft whispering marks notate the sounds heard at the water's edge at Hollicombe Beach, Paignton. A hard bristled brush allowed me to create marks that are rich in texture and vary in depth.
Drawing a Large Land Score
Alongside my smaller scores, I have produced a number of larger drawings. These require me to physically stand in the center of them, twisting and turning to map out the sounds around me. This score was made at Pendennis Point, Falmouth using a mop to record the gentle sounds of the sea washing over the rocks.
