Katie Hipkiss is a photographer originally from the West Midlands, on a search to find a location that provides her the utmost happiness and contentment. Her practice focuses on self-portraiture and the human condition whilst tying with Freud's theory on Psychoanalysis. Touching upon sensitive issues around mental illnesses in order to break the stigma around them, her work always has an underlying message of her emotions/feelings. She wants others to get the same out of her work that she puts in.
Forever Alone is a body of work that explores the consequences that moving around the UK has on myself physically, mentally and socially. The mental instability is explored through the dark muted tones which in turn allows for the unconscious thoughts to become reality. The photographs explore the truth of depression all whilst leaving no personal touch to them, emphasising how depression can disconnect you from your mind/body.
