The new ‘Centre for Life on Scilly’ offers a dynamic range of public space and amenities to the renowned archipelago’s residents and its many visitors. An auditorium built into the site’s sloping terrain provides an audience with a panoramic backdrop of the neighbouring islands. Large bamboo-clad shutters offer shelter when the temperature drops. Above the auditorium a raised public park provides the community with a flexible event space, linked to a cafe/bar. The Centre for Life also features a generous museum and archive, designated office space and co-working facilities, a natural tide pool, accommodation and an education centre.
