Elias Tsigounis is a photographer based in London. He often gets inspiration for his work through personal and professional encounters.
Elias’s latest project is a series of portraits of nurses and healthcare assistants that shows the synthesis of the front-line staff – a work that depicts this multi-cultural environment that constitutes and represents the NHS in the year 2020. The project explores the identity of nurses and health care assistant as individuals and in their role. This project attempts to create a historical archive of nurses and midwives of a specific hospital, King’s College, in a specific chronological time, during the Brexit and the COVID-19 pandemic, seventy-two years after the NHS was founded in 1948 and two centuries since the birth of Florence Nightingale.
