Bleached, Bib Necklace
Bleached is derived from the term Coral Bleaching, the inspiration and concept behind this project. The collection is made up of embellished fabrics and fashion accessories suitable for a high end, sustainably conscious client in need of a garment/accessory to wear to their online red carpet event. The designs therefore have detail and embellishment focused on the head and shoulders, are sustainably made and aim to spark conversation around the wider environmental topic. This necklace is hand cut from recycled leather and uses all glass beads.
Sustainable Sequin Top
The Sustainable Sequin Top is part of the Bleached Collection, inspired from the natural forms of coral. The colour palette for this collection is ‘shades of white’ and aims to spark conversation around the wider environmental topic. This garment is made from bespoke Sustainable Sequins, silver-work thread and glass beads. It has been paired with a black underlay to help the white and transparent sequins standout online. As an overlay top, this garment can be paired with many outfits, perfect to wear over and over. Timeless, season-less design.
The Flushing & Mylor Collection from the project, Cornwall Blues. This collection is inspired by the Cornish coastline, capturing the beauty and ruggedness through drone photographs injected into textile design using mixed media design processes. The final collection is finished to a sophisticated and contemporary style, suitable for chic and elegant interior design, constantly keeping sustainability in mind. The overall aesthetic has a natural feel, while still keeping the colours rich, in the hope of ‘bringing the outside in’ through use of beading, machine and hand embroidery techniques.
Vintage Dinner Jacket
This project was all about giving new life to garments no longer worn or enjoyed. The white vintage dinner jacket is embellished with glass beads and navy blue thread to add accent detailing to the lapels, cuffs and pockets. The extra embellishment and time taken to make something 'new' again has given this garment a new lease of life, adding a modern twist. This project also sparked conversation around embellished men's clothing, demonstrating that men can wear beads without there being a stigma, embellished clothing isn't just for women at dinner parties.
