Eshan, Fashion manufacturer based in Dhaka, Bangladesh, explains his understanding of modern society’s views on fashion, and how we need to work toward a change.

00:04
we are a society that likes to shop
00:06
research shows some folks actually
00:09
get a physical high from shopping
00:17
[Music]
00:24
we’ve got fashion all wrong i think at
00:26
least we’ve got fashion all wrong
00:28
we have lost our sense of responsibility
00:31
we’ve lost our sense of understanding
00:32
what is truth what is factually true
00:34
we’ve lost our senses of understanding
00:37
that uh
00:38
clothing is a basic necessity and this
00:40
basic necessity that we put on our
00:41
bodies
00:42
matters matters matters for
00:45
multitude of reasons other than just the
00:47
environment climate change cannot be the
00:49
only reason why
00:50
you should care about your clothes it’s
00:52
it’s how you’re expressing yourself it’s
00:54
a form of expression
00:55
there’s a deep soul like spirituality in
00:58
in fashion in in understanding the
01:00
clothing that you wear
01:01
how it’s manufactured how it’s made um
01:05
what impact is something as simple as
01:06
the clothing business it can have in
01:08
this world
01:08
how it can help developing nations and
01:11
and all of this is getting missed out
01:13
the moment we walk into a retail store
01:15
we start thinking about ourselves
01:17
it’s it it has it has become so selfish
01:20
almost that we’ve
01:21
we’ve lost the whole point of it i would
01:23
love to value you based on your clothing
01:27
not because you just simply look good at
01:29
it what if your clothing tells me more
01:31
about you than just the fact that you’ve
01:32
got good taste and fashion
01:34
what if your clothing tells me that this
01:35
guy has certain values
01:37
and supports certain values that are
01:39
essentially very
01:40
good for let’s say global communities
01:44
or the third world or anywhere else in
01:45
the world as in it can’t
01:47
simply just be a one-track thing i think
01:50
we’ve got it a little bit wrong
01:51
you know no one is no one is talking
01:53
about the other socioeconomic impacts of
01:55
any of this stuff no one is talking
01:57
about
01:58
how you know all you have to do is
01:59
support the right labels with the right
02:01
intentions
02:02
and we need to get it to our heads that
02:04
if we want to be part of a generation
02:06
that brings about change
02:07
because we care about the climate we
02:08
care about human rights we care about
02:10
equality we care about so many things
02:12
we’ll start with your three basic
02:14
necessities food
02:16
you know clothing housing maybe internet
02:19
but
02:20
you know your clothing is such an
02:21
important area and we’re very
02:23
misinformed or uneducated about it and i
02:26
i want an outlet like dreamer or
02:29
something
02:29
else that would allow me people like me
02:32
people like
02:33
us to share what we know what we have
02:35
learned
02:36
and share it with the world so that
02:37
people become more conscious
02:51
[Music]
02:55
you

Fast Fashion Advertorial

In January 2020, I had an incredible opportunity to join a contact I'd made whilst travelling to a journey through Bangladesh. I went with him to help start up his fashion brand, "Dreamer," which intended to drastically change the chaotic, horrendous fast fashion crisis we currently are facing.

I filmed the manufacturer who welcomed us to work with him, as although being a successful factory owner, he was curious and enthused to be a part of our specific interest to build a brand which would combat the fast fashion movement, and inspire people of our generation to shop for clothing mindfully and meaningfully.

Making this video was one of the most beautiful experiences of my life, and I would be honoured to create more for good causes and real intentions. It still gives me chills today to think about the people we met, what we saw, and what we are still trying to work toward.
