As a designer, I enjoy creating an environment which is unique, stimulating and immersive. I particularly enjoy creating a space that benefits and engages with the user. I am particularly driven by creating spaces that challenge the status quo and the user’s imagination. I find the challenge of reinvigorating and transforming forgotten or under-performing spaces very rewarding and beneficial, not only for the environment but also for preserving the history of a building. I also strongly believe that sustainability is an essential part of current design practice and should be incorporated whenever possible.
The project aims to highlight the overwhelming waste produced by fast fashion with the goal of transforming consumer behaviour. This will be achieved by reversing traditional retail practice to make products less accessible to the user so they gain a greater appreciation of the product and follow the mantra of ‘buy less, choose well”. The space will act as an immersive retail experience for the brand VETEMENTS.
