"A tremendous dance of odd events dominates our daily lives, creating havoc or haven but acting without regard indiscriminately. A perpetual cycle of activity swirling around us."
"Macaws are regulars to Kirkby Stephen. They have been startling inhabitants to the sleepy backwater town for ages, appearing as magnificent kaleidoscopes of exceptional colour from the most unexpected places. In this colour-wise arid landscape, they are oases unto themselves. They appear like magicians who instead of fancy lights and explosions use shrill cries rivalling the volume of shotgun blasts."
"If there’s something which can be assured of living in Cumbria, it’s that the weather will seem to be working against you. If you spend your days working outdoors then you will encounter ice, rain and hail. If you spend hours working indoors then a bright sunny day will remind you of better times. There is no winning. An immense silence cements around you as you walk, choking the landscape as it is weighed down underneath a blanket of cold. Waterfalls and babbling brooks can offer the only respite - with thunderous crashing and bracing roars or the harmonious trickles which will dominate for as long as it is in earshot."
"I hope that reading through this anthology of images you have reached the understanding that I have. A tremendous dance of odd events dominates our daily lives. The world is a scary, massive place and recent events can only confirm this. I’m not sure how to explain how I’m feeling right now, but people feeling similarly might understand. It’s a feeling of isolation which is incredibly crushing."
