Sustainable Fashion Designer with a passion for children’s wear. My final collection focuses on creating children’s occasion wear outfits out of second hand and deadstock fabrics, so that as a designer I can create garments without having an environmental impact. I explored how I could use traditional techniques such as smocking and shirring but with a contemporary neon element.

I wanted each garment to be personalised to the child, to create a sense of emotional attachment. To do this I collaborated with my models and textile designer Anna Millington, to create a print design which reflected each model’s favourite things.

To continue pushing myself as a sustainable designer I made each outfit into separate garments which could be worn more casually and frequently, compared to traditional occasion wear. I also added elastic waistbands so that the garments will still fit the children, even when they grow.

After university, I aim to continue pushing myself to create fashion in the most sustainable way and would be keen to work for a company with like-minded values. I also want to continue my business, Designed By Alice, and widen the number of products I offer.
